FF Meta Typeface

Designed by Erik Spiekermann and released in 1991, FF Meta is a humanist sans-serif typeface known for combining clarity with a distinctive and approachable character. This specimen examines the type family through its letterforms, weights, numerals, punctuation, special characters, and history.

Created as a double-sided four-panel mailer, the piece uses typography as both content and graphic structure. The letterforms shape the composition throughout and turn the typeface itself into the design’s primary visual language.

FF Meta became the typeface a generation reached when Helvetica felt too cold.
